Chillable Reds
Greetings Friend!
It's a well known fact that, in the U.S., we serve our white wine too cold and our red wine too warm. 40-50 degrees for white, 60-65 for red are pretty standard temps for your juice.
However, there are some red wines that fall into the "chillable" (or "chill-ah-blay" if you're feeling goofy) category. 50-60 degrees for these red wines.
Chillable reds usually fall into the softer tannin/higher acidity camp. Also known as Porch Pounder, Crushable, Chuggable or Glou-Glou (French for "glug glug"). These wines can be employed to satisfy your warm-weather-red-wine-drinking friends, spicy foods, bbq, or...pounding on the porch/dock/boat.
Here are some examples but regardless, trying popping any of your red wines into the fridge for a bit before serving. You won't be sorry!
LA BOUTANCHE RED BLEND, CALIFORNIA 2022 $21.99
VINA ECHEVERRIA 'NO ES PITUKO' CABERNET FRANC, CHILE 2022 $15.99
LA PATIENCE, VIN ROUGE, PONT DU GARD, FRANCE 2022 $14.99
