BROWN ESTATES 'HOUSE OF BROWN' CHARDONNAY, LODI CALIFORNIA 2020
Varietal: 95% Chardonnay, 5% Vermentino
Region: Lodi, California
What's So Special: One of very few Black-owned Napa wineries, Brown Estates makes some of the most beautiful, yet niche, wines in the industry. In 2010 the Brown family celebrated thirty years in the Napa Valley and Brown Estate's fifteenth crush. Over the years their farming philosophy has not changed: Their fifty acres of vineyards are planted amidst 450 acres of roughneck wilderness that they strive to tend rather than tame – from the occasional inconvenient honeybee hive in the winery to the prickly star thistles in the vineyards that are a part of their ecosystem.
Tastes Like: Pineapple, starfruit, and guava with secondary notes of flowering star jasmine, orange blossoms, and traces of honeysuckle, lemon verbena, and meringue. Light, crisp, elegant, and juicy on the palate with a bright yet round mouthfeel. Made from sustainably grown wine grapes with small amounts of naturally occurring and added sulfites. Nothing else.
Pairs With: Pairs with crab cakes, grilled oysters, seafood carpaccio, corndogs, truffle fries, and mac and cheese.
