MCCALL CORCHAUG ESTATE PINOT NOIR, NORTH FORK OF LONG ISLAND 2015
Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Region: North Fork of Long Island, NY
What's So Special: Russ McCall was dubbed "the madman of Pinot Noir" by the New York Times in the early 2000s when he announced his intention to make a Pinot Noir on Long Island. Pinot Noir doesn't naturally grow in the conditions present on Long Island, yet against all odds, McCall Winery has created some absolutely stellar Pinot Noirs from their entry-level Corchaug Estate Pinot Noir, to their mid-range Hillside, and finally up to their top-level Reserve Pinot Noir.
Tastes Like: The wine is Burgundian and Oregonian in style, with subtle fruit notes and a great sense of terroir specific to Long Island's North Fork.
